It's a rising edge trigger. Me: Ok. John: There're carrier wave at the trigger point. As a result, the carrier wave enter the transistor. As you expect, the output is (1) cause the input voltage is above the "threshold" voltage. However, it isn't a clear signal. It's a signal with lots of carrier wave.
